THE PROMISED LAND MINISTRY
When I was a kid growing up in Calera this picture of Rusty made the Shelby County Reporter. It made our family and City so proud of him because he had volunteered to join the United States Army which meant he could possibly be sent off to Vietnam instead of accepting Scholarship offers to play college football. I have probably looked at that picture a thousand times over the years. I once ask Rusty how it felt holding all that money. He said it was twentyfive hundred dollars and it felt good cause at eighteen years of age it felt to him like twentyfive thousand. I told him that someday I would hold twentyfive thousand in my hand so I could know how he felt. Now fifty years later, thanks to the Lord God Jehovah I can honestly say that I know exactly how he felt.
